Privacy policy

This policy explains what the Namazee app collects, what stays on your phone, and which other companies receive data when you use it. It tries to be exact rather than reassuring.

Effective date: 17 September 2026

  1. Who this is from, and what it covers

Namazee is published by Sacred Heritage (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Namazee mobile app, for Android and iOS, and this website at namazee.com.

  2. Definitions

    The app
    means the Namazee mobile application.
    The site
    means namazee.com.
    Device identifier
means the random value described in clause 5.
    Our servers
means systems operated by Sacred Heritage. Services run by other companies are named individually in clause 9.
  3. The app has no accounts

There is no sign-up, no sign-in and no profile. We never ask for, and never receive, your name, email address, phone number, date of birth or payment details.

  4. Your coordinates are not sent to our servers

The app asks for location so it can show which masjids are near you and how far away they are. That calculation happens on your phone. Your coordinates are never included in any request to our servers, and we do not store them.

We should be precise about what that does not mean. Like any service reached over the internet, our servers receive your device’s IP address with each request, and an IP address indicates roughly where a connection comes from. Those request logs are kept for about 30 days. So we can see the approximate area a request came from; we cannot see your position, your movements, or which masjid you walked to.

You may refuse the location permission. The app still works: you can search for a masjid by name and set one as your primary without ever granting it.

Clause 9 covers the map, which is Google’s and behaves differently.

  5. What the app sends to our servers

Before its first request for masjid data, the app registers itself with us and sends three things:

    • a device identifier — 128 random bits generated on your phone, once. It is not derived from your hardware and is not your phone’s serial number or advertising identifier. It is kept in your device’s secure storage. (An advertising identifier is separately collected by Google — see clause 9.)
    • whether the device is Android or iOS;
    • the version of the app you are running.

We return an access token, valid for one year. That token carries the device identifier and is sent with every later request, so activity from one installation is linkable to that installation while the token lasts. We keep a record of each registered installation, including when it was last seen, and we use it to serve the app, to apply rate limits, and to record who submitted a change in our internal audit history.

  6. Searching

Search runs first against the copy of the masjid list held on your phone. When you are online, the app also sends what you have typed to our servers, so masjids added since your last update can be found. This happens as you type, once a query reaches two characters, so our servers receive more of your typing than the analytics described in clause 9 do.

Search terms appear in our server request logs alongside the IP address that sent them, and those logs are kept for about 30 days.

  7. What is stored on your phone

Your favourite masjids, your primary masjid, your recent searches and the downloaded masjid list are stored on your device. We do not copy them to our servers.

Two things qualify that. Each recent search was also sent to Google at the moment you made it (clause 9). And on Android, this data sits in the app’s own storage, which Android’s automatic backup copies to your Google Drive and restores if you reinstall — so uninstalling removes it from the phone, but a copy may remain in your Google account. You control that in your device’s backup settings.

  8. Data brought from the previous Namazee app

If you are upgrading from the earlier version of Namazee, the app reads the favourites and primary masjid that version saved on your device, once, so you do not lose them. This is read from your own phone. Nothing is fetched from us to do it.

  9. Other companies that receive data

The app uses Google services. Each collects data under Google’s privacy policy, not ours, and each may receive your device’s IP address.

    • Google Analytics for Firebase — records five events: adding and removing a favourite, setting and clearing your primary masjid, and running a search. The favourite and primary events include the masjid’s identifier and name. The search event includes the words you searched for. Firebase also collects its own standard information, including an app instance identifier, your device model and operating system version. On Android it collects your device’s advertising identifier, and Google receives Play install-referrer information used to attribute installs.
    • Firebase Crashlytics — if the app crashes, sends a report with the error, where in the code it happened, and the state of your device at the time.
    • Firebase Remote Config — fetches settings that let us change the app’s behaviour without an update, identifying your installation to Google in order to do so.
    • Google Maps — draws the map screen. Google receives the area being viewed, and, when you have granted location, the map shows and uses your live position, which the map opens centred on.
    • Google Maps directions — tapping Directions leaves Namazee and opens Google Maps. We pass only the masjid’s coordinates as the destination. Google Maps then uses your own location to plan the route.
  10. Analytics starts with the app, and how to limit it

The app does not ask your permission before collecting analytics and crash reports, on either Android or iOS. Collection begins when you first open the app, and this version has no switch inside the app to turn it off. We would rather say that plainly than imply a choice that is not there.

You can limit what Google receives through your device’s own privacy, advertising and tracking settings, which work regardless of what the app does. To ask us to delete data held about your installation, write to namazee2022@gmail.com — see clause 13.

  11. Reminders

If you allow notifications, the app schedules reminders 15 minutes before the jamat at your primary masjid. These are scheduled and delivered by your own phone. The app has no push-message capability at all: we are not told that a reminder fired, and nothing is sent to us or to anyone else to deliver one.

  12. This website

namazee.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Nothing here tracks you between visits or between sites.

This site contacts no other company. Its typeface, images and stylesheet are all served from namazee.com itself, so loading a page here sends nothing to anyone but us. The store and WhatsApp links only go anywhere if you click them.

As with almost any website, the web server keeps ordinary access logs recording the IP address, page and browser of each request. We do not use them for marketing or measurement.

  13. Keeping and deleting data

Our server request logs, which contain IP addresses and search terms, are kept for about 30 days. The record of your installation described in clause 5 is kept indefinitely unless you ask us to remove it.

Data on your phone goes when the app does, subject to the Android backup described in clause 7. For anything held by us, write to namazee2022@gmail.com with the approximate date you installed the app and your platform. Because the app has no accounts, we cannot always connect a request to a specific installation — if we cannot, we will say so rather than claim to have deleted something. Data held by Google is subject to Google’s own policies and controls.

  14. Children

Namazee is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. The app asks for no age and no personal details from anyone.

  15. Changes

When this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it, and the new version replaces this one on this page.

  16. Contact

Questions about this policy, or about data, go to namazee2022@gmail.com.
